Four more off the market

Day 3 of Free Agent Frenzy wasn’t too much of a frenzy. Just four signings and a few other shananigans. It happens that day 3 of FAF is also the day before the 4th of July, so it was relatively quiet on Twitter and blogs because some of us Americans start festivites a day early. –Rick Nash of the Columbus Blue Jackets signed an eight year extention worth $62.4 million and a yearly cap hit of $7.8 million.
Ryan Smyth of the Colorado Avalanche was traded to the LA Kings for Kyle Quincey, Tom Preissing, and a fifth round draft pick.
The Chicago Blackhawks could be in some trouble: the QO’s that they sent to players may have been filed incorrectly, and the players who were sent the offers could become UFAs if the NHL and NHLPA find that there were mistakes made by the Blackhawks organization. The players who could become UFAs are Kris Versteeg, Cam Barker, Ben Eager, Colin Fraser, Aaron Johnson and Troy Brouwer.
