Going to make this a short post.
I missed the game last night against New Jersey, but I came home early sick and saw that the repeat was on.
It seemed to me that without Alex Ovechkin, we actually play pretty decent defense. Why?
I guess if you have the most prolific scorer in the NHL you’re always going to be go, go, go and constantly thinking about offense. When that piece is missing, you have to bear down more. But I think that Ovi or no Ovi, we need to have both of those elements. Once we get a lead, we need to hold it and crack down on how many chances we’re going to take. If a guy has a good or great chance, then he should take it. If it’s going to be more of a risk, don’t do it.
From the looks of it, we have two different styles of hockey. We can’t be one team with Ovi and one team without him. If we can just mix the two together, we could be much more dominant as a team.
